The latest news is that according to insiders, Arm has recently laid off more than 70 software engineers in China and will transfer some positions to areas outside of China.
An insider revealed that approximately 15 laid-off employees will be transferred to different positions to work on projects related to China. Another person familiar with the matter stated that the dismissed position is currently being filled by contract software engineers who have participated in projects for Arm's global business.
In a statement, Arm stated, "In order to ensure that the Chinese software ecosystem can fully leverage the advantages of Arm's features, Arm is restructuring its Chinese software engineering resources and focusing on directly supporting local developers."
Jason Chad, Chief Financial Officer of Arm, stated in November that China's contribution to Arm's global sales has decreased from 25% to approximately 20%, while growth is faster in other regions of the world.
It is reported that Arm has been affected by US restrictions on exporting technology to Chinese companies, as Arm has developed proprietary designs widely used in mobile devices in the US.
According to insiders, Arm China (Anmou Technology) serves as the sales office of a British chip design company in the largest semiconductor market. Earlier this year, Anmou Technology laid off over 100 employees, most of whom worked in the research and development department, creating new chip technologies for the local market.
