Latest news, according to sources close to Foxconn and Asus, due to heavy rain, Foxconn and Asus have stopped producing Apple iPhones at factories near Chennai in southern India.
Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, is the largest city in the state and also a major electronics and manufacturing center. At least two people were killed in rainstorm, and the runway of one of the busiest airports in the country was flooded.
Sources say that Foxconn has approximately 35000 employees at its iPhone factory in Tamil Nadu, and the company has not yet decided whether to resume production on December 5th (Tuesday).
Foxconn quickly expanded its business in India by investing in manufacturing bases in southern India.
On the other hand, this is the second time in recent months that Asus has been forced to close its factory, which temporarily suspended iPhone assembly after a fire in September.
However, Apple declined to comment, and Foxconn and Asus did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
