Vishay launches MiniLED packaging for high brightness small blue and pure green LEDs

MALVERSN, Pennsylvania, USA, Shanghai, China - April 18, 2024- Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the launch of new blue and pure green surface mount LEDs - VLMB2332T1U2-08 and VLMTG2332ABCA-08, using ultra small MiniLED packaging. Vishay Semiconductors VLMB2332T1U2-08 and VLMTG2332ABCA-08 have external dimensions of 2.2 mm x 1.3 mm x 1.4 mm, using advanced ultra bright InGaN chip technology. Their typical luminous intensities reach 440 mcd and 2300 mcd, respectively, which is four times higher than the previous generation PLCC-2 packaging solution.

The recently released LED has high brightness and small size, making it the perfect choice for small high-power products that require reliable operation in harsh environments. Typical applications include medical phototherapy; Signal lights for agricultural equipment and energy generation systems; Office, entertainment, and communication equipment indicator lights and backlighting; LCD switch and universal indicator board.


In addition, VLMTG2332ABCA-0 has a typical wavelength of 525 nm at 20 mA, making it an ideal choice for fitness trackers and other heart rate detection devices that use different green light absorption rates. VLMB2332T1U2-08 has a typical wavelength of 465 nm at 20 mA and is suitable for smoke detectors that use short wavelength blue light to detect small particles.


The MiniLED packaging of LED uses a lead frame embedded in white thermoplastic material. The device has a semi strong angle of ± 60 °, a viewing angle of 120, suitable for uniform illumination and backlighting, and a typical forward voltage of 2.9 V. VLMB2332T1U2-08 and VLMTG2332ABCA-08 are packaged according to packaging unit, luminous intensity, and color.


LED complies with RoHS and Vishay green standards, halogen-free, packaged with 8mm tape, with an ESD withstand voltage of up to 2 kV, meeting the requirements of JESD22-A114-B. Pre treated according to JEDEC Level 2a, it is suitable for J-STD-020 infrared reflow soldering process and automatic picking and placement SMT machine processing.
