The latest news is that Samsung Electronics has once again failed to resolve salary negotiations this year, indicating the risk of another round of union strikes.
According to reports, Samsung Electronics' largest labor union, the "Samsung Electronics National Union," announced the establishment of a labor dispute committee on March 18, which will begin labor struggle from that day.
On March 14th, the National Labor Relations Commission of South Korea held its third mediation meeting, and the trade union was granted the right to strike Gong in accordance with the law and made a decision to suspend mediation. But the union shelved the dispute at the request of the management and held a new round of negotiations with the management on the morning of March 14th, but the negotiations ultimately broke down.
It is reported that the union will vote on whether to take a strike action from today until April 5th. If the majority of members vote in favor, the union can legally hold a strike. The union also plans to organize a nationwide promotional tour to put pressure on management.
Samsung Electronics has not experienced a strike for 55 years since its establishment in 1969.
