In recent years, steering wheel off hand detection has received widespread attention as an advanced active safety assisted driving technology. It can monitor the contact status between the driver's hands and the steering wheel in real time. Once dangerous driving behavior occurs, it will trigger corresponding safety measures to improve driving safety. At present, there are two mainstream HoD detection solutions on the market: steering torque detection and capacitive touch detection. Among them, the cost of steering torque detection is low but not accurate enough, while capacitive touch detection is precise but difficult to design. In response to this issue, Da Lian Da Pin Jia has launched a HoD off hand detection and touch multifunctional steering wheel solution based on Microchip AVR DA MCU. This not only achieves accurate off hand detection, but also integrates modules such as touchpad, buttons, slider, and roller, reducing design costs while maintaining detection accuracy.

AVR DA MCU is a low-power performance product under Microchip. It can provide real-time control function and simple capacitive touch function. In terms of design, this MCU combines Core Independent Peripheral (CIP) with powerful intelligent simulation products, which can not only serve as an independent processor, but also as a supporting MCU that requires high-precision design.
