On July 10, 2024, Kuching, Malaysia - Global microelectronics engineering company, SMIC, announced the successful completion of its world's largest wafer testing facility located in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. The expansion project of Mindray in Malaysia has been officially completed, marking another important milestone in the company's 35 year development history. Mindray's wafer testing base in Kuching is equipped with 90 advanced semiconductor wafer testing equipment, focusing on rigorous testing of integrated circuits (ICs). This brand new four story building was jointly built by internationally renowned Belgian architect Sebastian Mortelmans and a team of outstanding local architects from Sarawak, DNA. It covers an area of 4500 square meters and will become the world's largest wafer testing base for Mindray. This modern building cleverly incorporates local unique longhouse cultural elements, equipped with advanced energy-saving systems, and solar installations on the roof that can generate up to 30000 kilowatt hours of clean energy per month, minimizing its impact on the environment.
