Shanghai, China, May 21, 2024- Ames Osram (Swiss Stock Exchange stock code: AMS), the world's leading optical solution provider, today announced that with the rolling wave of automotive intelligence, laser radar has become an indispensable core sensor of auto drive system, leading the future of advanced auxiliary driving technology. On April 25th, at the Beijing Auto Show, the world's leading supplier of LiDAR and perception solutions, Sagitar Juchuang, showcased its latest MX LiDAR for the first time. This product integrates the mature EEL SPL series edge emitting laser technology of Ames Osram, providing high-precision laser output for LiDAR and endowing cars and robots with perception capabilities beyond vision.
Since its establishment in 2014, Sagitar Juchuang has been a pioneer in the automotive LiDAR industry, providing services to numerous car manufacturers and first tier suppliers worldwide. As of the end of March 2024, Sagitar Juchuang has received orders for a total of 65 designated vehicle models from 22 automobile manufacturers and first tier suppliers. According to S&P Global Mobility's "2022 Global Autonomous Driving and LiDAR Market Trends Analysis" report, Sagitar Juchuang is the LiDAR technology company with the most collaborations with car companies worldwide, ranking first. At the same time, Sagitar Juchuang is the world's first technology enterprise to deliver second-generation intelligent solid-state LiDAR to automobile manufacturers.
Ames Osram is a leading global supplier of LiDAR lighting solutions and a close partner of Sagitar Juchuang. The cooperation between the two sides has achieved remarkable results, jointly promoting the progress and industrial development of LiDAR technology. Sagitar Juchuang currently has multiple series of LiDARs equipped with lasers from Ames Osram, including those for autonomous driving ADAS、 Lidar and solutions in various fields such as robotics.
As a leading global supplier of intelligent sensors and light source solutions, Ames Osram has a unique and comprehensive LiDAR solution, covering multiple technologies such as EEL and VCSEL. From bare crystals, packaged lasers, to integrated modules, Ames Osram has the ability to provide a complete set of LiDAR solutions to meet the needs of customers in different application scenarios.
Especially with its advanced technology and reliable quality, the EEL SPL series edge emitting laser of the Ames Osram has become the main choice in the in car LiDAR market, demonstrating a key role in advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous taxi systems (Robotaxi).
The uniqueness of EEL technology stems from the infrared laser diode designed by Ames Osram specifically for pulse operation, which is suitable for laser radar applications in automotive autonomous driving. EEL technology adopts cutting-edge multi-layer nano stack emitter technology, which can provide high power while maintaining small size, making it the preferred technology for remote LiDAR. In addition, infrared laser diodes with a wavelength of 905nm have the highest efficiency on the market. And it can operate with extremely short pulses (as low as 2ns) while providing excellent power.
Thanks to the support of the Ames Osram EEL SPL series edge emitting lasers, Sagitar Juchuang's in car LiDAR has achieved comprehensive breakthroughs in ranging, resolution, size, weight, and output points, and has released a new generation of medium and long range LiDAR MX.
Prior to this release, Sagitar Juchuang's M1 M2 is also equipped with the Ames Osram EEL SPL series edge emitting lasers.
The Sagitar Juchuang M1&M1 Plus is equipped with the Ames Osram SPL series EEL laser, which can achieve ultra long measurement distances of 200m. Higher resolution, accurate to 0.2 ° for both horizontal and vertical angles, and dynamically increasing the vertical resolution of the ROI area to 0.1 °, making it easier to see distant obstacles earlier, allowing the vehicle to respond in advance, enhancing the autonomous driving experience, and reducing the size of the LiDAR. This defines the production thickness standard of 45mm for the previous car mounted LiDAR. M1&M1 Plus has more output points, with a single echo mode output of 787500pts/s. The M2 is further equipped with the SPL low-temperature drift high frequency EEL of the Ames Osram, which achieves a dual leap in distance measurement and angular resolution compared to the previous generation M1 Plus. The farthest distance measurement ability is increased to 250m, and the optimal angular resolution is increased to 0.1 ° x 0.1 °, greatly improving the detection ability of small obstacles at long distances. At the same time, the global output points doubled to 1575000pts/s.
The SPL series low-temperature drift high frequency EEL, as a product of small luminous size low-temperature drift, has unique advantages in improving signal-to-noise ratio. According to experiments, when the temperature range is between -40 ℃ and 125 ℃, the background noise of 40nm received by the receiving end can be effectively reduced to 20nm, which is equivalent to reducing the noise to 50% of the original noise, thereby increasing the signal-to-noise ratio to twice the original.
Mr. Liu Letian, co-founder and CTO of Sagitar Juchuang, said, "Lidar has very strict requirements in product selection. It not only ensures the stability and reliability of the laser, but also achieves a lower wavelength drift coefficient with temperature, maintaining a small luminous size while achieving high power output. Therefore, the Ames Osram EEL SPL series edge emitting lasers are very suitable for car mounted lidars."
The cooperation between Sagitar Juchuang and Ames Osram has been ongoing for a long time. In March of this year, Odo Camp, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ames Osram, visited the headquarters of Sagitar Juchuang in Shenzhen to showcase the company's products and had in-depth exchanges with Dr. Qiu Chunxin, Chairman and Chief Scientist of Sagitar Juchuang, and Mr. Qiu Chunchao, CEO. Both sides discussed the development trends and product cooperation of LiDAR technology and reached a consensus on further cooperation. During the communication, Sagitar Juchuang expressed recognition and gratitude for the technology and support provided by Ames Osram. Both sides discussed the intention to further expand the scope of cooperation to multiple fields such as smart transportation and intelligent transportation, and exchanged views on deepening multi-level partnership. Looking ahead to the future, both sides hope to continue deepening cooperation and promote the application of more innovative achievements related to LiDAR technology in the automotive field. Both sides will maintain a close partnership and grow together, aiming to achieve a higher level of mutual benefit and win-win, and bring breakthrough changes to the laser radar industry in China and even globally.
At the end of the visit, Odo Camp commented, "I am very grateful for the customer's trust and recognition of Ames Osram.
